Russel Schnoebelen RIVERSIDE, Iowa -- Russel Schnoebelen, 65, Riverside, died Wednesday, May 17, 2006, in Riverside, after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral Service will be 3 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2006, at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Riverside. The Rev. Rich Adam will officiate. Burial will be at St. Vincent's Cemetery, rural Riverside. After the burial, a time of food and fellowship will be held at St. Mary's Parish Center. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, May 18, 2006, at the church, with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service and a time of sharing from friends and relatives; and 1 p.m. until service time Friday, church. A memorial fund has been established. The Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services, Riverside, is handling the arrangements. Mr. Schnoebelen was born Dec. 31, 1940, in Riverside, the son of Richard and Blanche Fouchek Schnoebelen. He married Madonna Kinney on Dec. 28, 1963, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Iowa City. He was a 1959 graduate of St. Mary's High School, Riverside. He owned and operated Russ' DX for 11 years and later drove a fuel truck for Mobil Gas Co. and retired from River Products. He also farmed throughout his life. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Riverside, and the Riverside Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6414. He enjoyed stock car and NASCAR racing and camping and fishing with his children. Survivors include his wife; a son, Mike Schnoebelen and wife Heather of Riverside; five daughters, Chris Schnoebelen and Tim Macrander of Coralville, Julie Wieland and husband Jim, of Cedar Rapids, Jill Schnoebelen and Terry Walker of Riverside, Stacy Burnett and husband Mark of West Branch and Jamie Schnoebelen and Jim Thomae of Lone Tree; four grandchildren, Brittanie, Trevor and Hannah Wieland and Brendan Schnoebelen; two brothers, Paul Schnoebelen and wife Marj and Ralph Schnoebelen and wife Jan, all of Riverside; a sister, Mildred Thomann and husband Bud of Riverside; many nieces and nephews; and several friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Theresa Schnoebelen and Marie Deutsch; and two brothers, Leroy and Lester.
