Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services, 2907 Mulberry Ave. Mildred Irene "Millie" Courtois, 88, Muscatine, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006, at Simpson Memorial Home, West Liberty, surrounded by her family. Elder Linda Comstock will officiate. Casket bearers are her sons and sons-in-law, Gary, David, Craig, Brian, Paul Grunder and Bill Albright. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery. After the burial, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the church. Memorials may be made to Community of Christ Church. Mrs. Courtois was born Jan. 19, 1918, in Muscatine, the daughter of Phillip and Mary L. Carithers Wagler. She married George C. Courtois on March 31, 1936, in Muscatine. He preceded her in death in 1986. She was a member of Community of Christ Church, formerly Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, for 80 years; and had been a volunteer with the Unity Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting, plastic canvas needlepoint, reading, playing Skip-Bo and Mexican Train Dominos. She had a beautiful alto voice and loved to sing. Above all, she loved her family and the time she spent with them. Survivors include four daughters, Patricia Long and husband Jack of Houston, Texas, Sandra Grunder and husband Paul of Moscow, Joyce Courtois and husband Paul Wilson of Houston and Kathy Albright and husband Bill of Muscatine; four sons, Gary, David and wife Karen, Craig and companion Liz Zaehringer, all of Muscatine, and Brian and wife Kathy of North Liberty; three brothers, Donald Wagler of Colorado Springs, Colo., Delbert Wagler and wife Gerry and Robert Wagler and wife Marilyn, all of Muscatine; a sister-in-law, Corrine Holliday and husband Donald; 18 grandchildren, Mark, Michelle, Julia, Blake, Jay, Beth, Greg, Renee, Josh, Troy, Heidi, Chris, Shawn, Matt, Aaron, Tyler, Nathan and Jacob; stepgrandchildren, Bill, Mike, Cindy and Tracey; 17 great-grandchildren, Paul, Zachary, Sam, Alanna, Owen, Codi, Austin, Logan, Justin, Delanie, Maranda, Quintyn, Dariyn, Braedyn, Koltyn, Raegyn and Jakob; four stepgreat-grandchildren, Jenny, Jenna, Kelsie and Natalie; and two stepgreat-great grandchildren, Jordan and Aubrin. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Clarence; two sisters, Beatrice Symmonds and Phyllis Shield; a sister-in-law, Pearl Wagler; an infant grandson, Zachary; a stepgranddaughter, Beth Grunder; and a son-in-law, Gary Holmes.
