Stacey Marie Hernandez, 18, of Aredale, Iowa, passed away September 16, 2010, at the Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City, Iowa due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born July 26, 1992, in Santa Cruz, California, to Mark Hernandez and Debra DeBerg. Stacey attended school at Harbor High in Santa Cruz, California and Hampton-Dumont High School. She worked at Country Inn & Suites as a housekeeper. Stacey enjoyed helping others. She volunteered for meals on wheels for the Dumont Wellness Center, and she also helped with the food bank in Santa Cruz, California. Stacey was an avid photographer and was very artistic. She is survived by her mother Debra DeBerg and fiancé Larry Marzen of Dougherty, father Mark (Yolanda) Hernandez of Santa Cruz, California, sister Ashley (Tim) Harles of Oroville, California, aunt Lisa (Kim) Allyn of Santa Cruz, California, grandparents Keith & Virginia DeBerg of Osceola, grandmother Agnes Tafoya of California, uncles Mike (Pam) & Gino Hernandez of Santa Cruz, California, great grandfather Jeane Richard of Aredale, great aunt Lois Deike of Waverly, best friend Rachel Noelting of Aredale and numerous friends & extended family. Stacey was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather.
