Shirley Leith Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo, Ill. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. today, funeral home. NEW BOSTON, Ill. - Shirley A. Leith, 69, New Boston, died Saturday, April 21, 2007, at her home. Burial will be at the New Boston Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home. Mrs. Leith was born Nov. 17, 1937, in Louisa County, the daughter of Orla and Merle Kulp Crooks. She was raised by her stepfather and mother, Paul and Merle Kerr. She married Denny J. Leith on Aug. 26, 1956, in New Boston. She attended Columbus Junction Community School. She was a homemaker and worked part-time at the former Olin Funeral Homes. She enjoyed helping people by running errands; taking them to area hospitals or doctor's offices or just lending a helping hand. She loved being at home with her family and enjoyed celebrating birthdays and holidays. She especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was an avid NASCAR Fan. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Tammy Ortberg and husband Kevin of Joy, Ill.; three grandchildren, Keith Ortberg and wife Susan, Travis Ortberg and wife Jerica and Kimberly Ortberg, all of Joy; four great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Kassie, Gage and Rylee Ortberg; and two brothers, Bill Crooks of Florida and Dean Crooks of Wapello, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
