ELIZABETH CARLSON MUSCATINE, Iowa - Elizabeth Augusta Carlson, 94, of Muscatine, died Tuesday, November 13, 2007, at Unity Hospital. Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 16, 2007, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Ralph Jeamby will officiate the service. Honorary casket bearers will be Victoria Carlson-Casaregola, Carl Harder, Bob McKay, George Taylor, and her great-grandchildren. Casket bearers will be John Carlson, Greg Carlson, Stephen Coder, Scott Coder, Bill Bartenhagen and John Moss. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2007, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Association. Elizabeth was born on February 26, 1913, the daughter of William and Augusta Gravert Harder. In 1934 she married Don Carlson and they later divorced. She and Don farmed in the Illinois area until they moved to Muscatine in 1947. She started her working career with the Laura Musser family and later worked at the Burlington Ordinance Plant until her retirement. Elizabeth enjoyed working in her garden. She also enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing cards, quilting, handwork, and flowers. Survivors include one son, Robert D. Carlson and wife, Donna, of Muscatine; one daughter, Linda Coder and husband, Douglas, of Scottsdale, Arizona; five grandchildren, Victoria Carlson-Casaregola and husband, Vincent, of St. Louis, Missouri, John Carlson and wife, Laura, of Muscatine, Greg Carlson and wife, Heather, of Nichols, Stephen Coder and wife, Teresa, of Muscatine, and Scott Coder and wife, Angela, of Phoenix, Arizona; eight great-grandchildren, Maya and Marina Casaregola of St. Louis, Missouri, Alicia and Alayna Carlson of Muscatine, Colby and Creighton Carlson of Nichols, Jessica Coder of Muscatine, and Maiya Coder of Phoenix, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Carol Ann; two brothers, Herman and Claude Harder, and one sister, Alma Bartenhagen.
