Robert H. 'Bob' Froehner CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - Robert H. BobĀ Froehner, 84, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, at the University of Iowa Hospitals amp; Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2008, at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2008, at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, where a 4 p.m. rosary and 7 p.m. Vigil service will be conducted. Visitation also one hour prior to service. Memorials may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice. Robert was born August 16, 1924, in Muscatine, the son of Albert and Lillian Wickey Froehner. He married Ramona Wingerter on March 25, 1951, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Muscatine. He was a 1942 graduate of Muscatine High School and attended Muscatine Junior College. He served with the U.S. Navy for three years in the Pacific Theatre of Operations during WW II. He worked at Kent Feeds for 34 years, retiring as the Waterloo Plant Manager in 1985. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and Cedar Falls AMVETS Post No. 49. Survivors include his wife, Ramona Froehner of Cedar Falls; three daughters, Beth Harn and husband, Mike, of Finchford, Susan Switenki and husband, Pete, of Medina, Minnesota, and Nancy Ford and husband, Dan, of Mason City; four sons, Robert Froehner and wife, Kay, of Cedar Falls, Tom Forehner and wife, Jessica, of Columbus, Nebraska, Jim Forehner and wife, Mary Shay, of Estepona, Spain and Paul Froehner and wife, Wynette, of Jesup, Iowa; 14 grandchildren, Joy Winkowitsch, Patience Avelson, Merry Arms-Adair, Nick Ford, Nina Appleby, Anna Ford, Hannah Redix, Clayton and Caden Froehner, Nathan and Jesse Froehner, Joseph, Jordan and Ysabel Froehner, and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Joe Froehner; a grandson, Joseph; a brother, Warren Froehner, and a sister, Betty Singleton.

"By chance I found this obituary on line. I knew mr froehner as a child in cedar falls. He was my dear friend Beth's dad. He was a kind and wonderful dad for an amazing bunch of kids.
