Sylvia Jean Corrine Fread MUSCATINE, Iowa - Sylvia Jean Corrine Fread, 87, Muscatine, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Memorial Service will be 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2009, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Inurnment will be at Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to Lutheran Homes in her name. Sylvia was born on January 14, 1922, in Priest River, Idaho, the daughter of William and Peggy Inez Shannon Adsitt. She married Homer Charles Fread on December 26, 1936, in Santa Ana, California. She received her nursing degree at Columbia Community College in Longview, Washington. She had worked at St. John's Hospital in Long View, Washington for three years and later spent 10 years at Hershey Hospital in Muscatine. She attended Hillcrest Baptist Church. She will be deeply missed by her children, Judith Marie Davis and husband, Richard, of Hortonville, Wisconsin, Shirley Jean Dawson and husband, Robert of Ridgecrest, California, David Charles Fread of West Des Moines, Daniel Edward Kaiser of Murrieta, California, and Donald Drew Fread of Lake Mary, Florida; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two half-brothers.
