Merlene June 'Dolly' Marquardt OAKVILLE, Iowa - Merlene June Dolly Marquardt, 85, Oakville, died Sunday, December 27, 2009, at the Great River Medical Center at West Burlington. Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello. The Rev. Don Swanson will officiate the service. Burial will take place in Edwards Cemetery, Oakville, officiated by Ed Lanz. Visitation will begin after 3 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at the funeral home where family will meet friends from 6 to 9 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the benefits of the Oakville Volunteer Foundation and the Oakville American Legion Auxiliary. Dolly was born on March 31, 1924, Huron Island, the daughter of August and Mary Kuntz Zippe. She married Raymond H. Marquardt on October 3, 1942, at Kahoka, Missouri. She attended schools at Prairie Point Country School, Huron School, and Oakville High School. She had worked at Sylvania and IRC, both in Burlington, and then at the IAAP at Middletown where she retired. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the United Methodist Church both at Oakville. She was a Cub Scout den mother. She enjoyed fishing, wildlife, wild game meat especially turtle, gardening, painting and music. She loved her cat. She is survived by her husband, Raymond Marquardt at the Wapello Nursing amp; Rehab Center; two sons, Gary Marquardt and wife, Beverley, of Wapello, and Doug Marquardt of Oakville; a daughter/niece, Becky Stephens and husband, Mike, of Burlington; six grandchildren, Brandon Marquardt, Jeremy Marquardt, Joscelyn Stephens, Kaitlyn Stephens, Breanna Lamb, and Dakota Lamb; a brother, Harry Zippe of Burlington; and a sister, Frances McHenry of San Antonio, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Cassandra; a sister, Maxine Hand; and six brothers, Earl, Emmett, Harley Dick, Lester, Dugan and Joe.
