JUANITA F. LOPEZ MUSCATINE, Iowa - Juanita F. Lopez, 88, of Muscatine, died Friday, February 12, 2010, at Unity Hospital. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at the St. Mathias Church. The Reverend Joseph Sia of Ss. Mary and Mathias Parish will officiate. Casket bearers will be Russell Bennett, Justin Allen, Thomas Harmsen Jr., Charles Hampton, Eric Lopez, and Manny Lopez. Burial will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery. A funeral luncheon will be held following the committal service at Gannon Hall, 215 West Eighth Street. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, February 15, 2010, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Juanita was born on August 29, 1921, in McAllen, Texas, the daughter of Bernardo and Natividad Alanise Fonseca. She married Clemente F. Lopez on December 14, 1938, in Pharr, Texas. He preceded her in death. She has been a resident of Muscatine since 1969. She was a member of the Ss. Mary and Mathias Parish. She enjoyed sewing, embroidering, and loved cooking for everyone. Survivors include three sons, Jose Lopez and wife, Oralia, of Muscatine, Clemente Lopez Jr. and wife, Thelma, of Del Rio, Texas, and Francisco Xavier Lopez of Muscatine; two daughters, Guadalupe F. Lopez of Muscatine, and Teresa Harmsen and husband, Thomas Harmsen Sr., of Muscatine; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Camilo Fonseca and wife, Sophia, of Pharr, Texas; three step-brothers, Victor, Gilbert, and Johnny; one sister, Natividad Fonseca and husband, Leonardo Espinosa, of Pharr, Texas; three step-sisters, Olivia Ortega, Beatrice Fonseca, Yolanda Benavides. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, two step-sisters, Alicia Jackson and Susanna Rodreguez; and a step-brother, Bernardo Jr.
