HILDA (BUELT) LAHA MUSCATINE, Iowa - Hilda Ida (Buelt) Laha, 88, of Muscatine, died Monday, June 28, 2010, at Lutheran Homes. It was her desire for no visitation or services to be held. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. A Mass for her will be said with the Ss. Mary and Mathias Catholic Community at a later date. Burial will take place in St. Bernard's Cemetery in Breda, Iowa, at a later date. Memorials may be made to Trinity of Muscatine Home Care Hospice or Lutheran Homes. Hilda was born on September 9, 1921, on a farm in Breda, the daughter of Joseph and Appelonia Waltz Boes. She married Edwin Buelt on November 25, 1940, at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Sioux City. He preceded her in death on August 6, 1975. She married Joseph Laha on May 25, 1979, at St. Mary's Church in Muscatine. He preceded her in death on April 1, 1990. Hilda owned and operated Thayer Lodge and Restaurant for over 40 years. After retirement at the age of 80, she resided at Hershey Manor in Muscatine for the last eight years. She was a member of the Ss. Mary and Mathis Parish. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Dan Buelt and wife, Connie, of Letts, Dale Buelt and wife, Bonnie, of Fruitland, Barbara Bloomberg and husband, Tom, of Springfield, Missouri, Joanne Hall and husband, Russell, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Linda Edwards and Terry Edwards of Muscatine, and Diane Drake and husband, Daryl, of Ames; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one brother, Rufus Boes and wife, Doris Ann, of Carroll; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; five sisters, and two brothers. May they rest in peace.
