Brenda K. Eckert MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa - Brenda Kay Eckert, 52, of Mount Pleasant, formerly of Muscatine, died Sunday, June 27, 2010, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 3, 2010, at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel, 709 East Mapleleaf Drive, Mount Pleasant. The Rev. Gary Van Nyhuis will officiate. Burial will take place in Forest Home Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 2, 2010, at the Faith Christian Outreach Church, 1302 E. Washington St., Mount Pleasant. A memorial has been established to be used as a college education fund for her grandchildren. Brenda was born on January 27, 1958, in Iowa City, the daughter of Harley Eckert and Betty Lou Kilburn. She lived in Muscatine for 30 years and attended high school here. She lived in Fremont, for seven years, Grandview, for 15 years, and for the past two years in Mount Pleasant. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She attended Faith Christian Outreach Church. She was an Elvis fan. She liked to crochet and enjoyed attending concerts at Midwest Old Threshers. She is survived by a loving daughter, Brandi Greenfield and husband, Lindy, of Mount Pleasant; her father, Harley Eckert of New Mexico; a sister, Chris Edington of Webb City, Missouri; a brother, Eddie Weikert and wife, Jill, of Muscatine; and a half brother, Harley Eckert Jr. of Iowa City; two grandchildren, Briana Greenfield and Lindy Greenfield Jr., both of Mount Pleasant; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew, and cousins. Those preceding her in death include her mother, grandmother, stepfather, brother-in-law, aunt and cousin.
