ROBERT HUBBARD MUSCATINE, Iowa - Robert A. Hubbard, 92, of Muscatine, died on Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at Genesis Medical Center - East Campus. Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. on Monday, February 21, 2011, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Jim Turner of the Musserville United Methodist Church will officiate the service. Casket bearers will be Keith Cox, Jason Cox, Aron Meyer, Jeff Hubbard, Matt Hubbard, Nathan Yerington, and Austin Yerington. Burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites by the combined squads of the American Legion and the V.F.W. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, February 20, 2011, at the funeral home. Memorials may be to the donor's choice. Robert was born on November 8, 1918, in Muscatine, the son of Frank Y. and Phennie Rainbow Hubbard. He married Mavis Fuller on July 1, 1944, in Sydney, Australia. She preceded him in death on March 11, 2006. He was a US Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theatre for four and one-half years. He retired from Grain Processing Corporation in 1980. He was a member of the Musserville United Methodist Church, V.F.W. Post 1565, and the American Legion Post 27. His hobbies included carpentry work, fishing, hunting, and vacationing with his family. He loved to tell stories to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed playing games and cards. He also loved to drive five head of horses on a gang plow. Those left to honor his memory include one son, Kevin Hubbard and wife, Lori, of Muscatine; four daughters, Denise Meyer of Davenport, Ronda Shannon and husband, Perry, of Letts, Barbara Cox and husband, Joe, of Muscatine, and Donna Yerington and husband, Roy, of Muscatine; 17 grandchildren, Lori Heinrich and husband, Scott, Aron Meyer, Jodi Stock and husband, Adam, Pam Waters and husband, Greg, Kerrie Vermillion and husband, Neal, Angela Boncek, Keith Cox and wife, Michele, Jason Cox and wife, Erika, Heather Brade and husband, Ben, Jeff Hubbard, Cyndy White and husband, Jay, Jaime Wiebel and husband, Scott, Matt Hubbard and wife, Heather, Marcy Krumbholz and husband, Anthony, Nathan Yerington, Jasmine Yerington, and Austin Yerington; and 29 great-grandchildren, Hayley, Canyon, Cheyanne, Allyson, Maison, Kassidy, Devon, Treigh, Emilee, Robert, Maria, Shannon, Claire, Brianna, Tim, Molly, Lucas, Kyle, Bradley, Sydney, Lindsey, Alli, Tyler, Jaden, Kale, Ethan, Amara, Landon, and Abrielle. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one son, Roger Hubbard; one son-in-law, Steve Meyer; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Harlow, Frank, and Orval Hubbard; and three sisters, Margie Tiedemann, Flossie Smith, and Lucy Hubbard.
