Edward J. Hill WHEAT RIDGE, Colorado - Edward J. Hill, 94, passed away on April 2, 2011 in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, with his children by his side. A memorial service will be held at St. Charles Roman Catholic Church and Edward and Jeanne Hill will be laid to rest at Farris Cemetery, Cass Lake, Minnesota. A date and time will be announced at a later date. Ed was born and raised in Muscatine, Iowa. He served in the US Army from 1941 to 1945. He owned and managed the Hill Lumber Company of Muscatine. In 1971 he opened and managed Baskin Robbins Ice Cream at the Muscatine Mall. In 1976, Ed and Jeanne moved to Cass Lake, Minnesota, and owned and managed Birch Villa Resort. As time went by the resort was sold and at age 67 he became the Curator of the Cass Lake Museum / Visitor Center. He was an active member of the Cass Lake Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club and St. Charles Roman Catholic Church. He cooked ''many a pancake breakfast''. He served God, the Church and Community steadfastly throughout his life. He is survived by his four children, Dana Hill of Loveland, Colorado, Colleen Betz of Arvada, Colorado, Valerie Arp of Golden, Colorado, and William Hill of Fruitland, Iowa; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Jeanne Cook Hill in 2005.
