John L. Felix, age 84, died Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Spring House Estates where he has been a resident for the past 15 years. Mr. Felix was born in Windber, PA the Son of the late Lloyd J. and Alma (nee Hobart) Felix. He was preceded in death by his wife Suzanne (nee Fitzgerald) Felix in March of 2006.
Mr. Felix was a Graduate of the University of Pittsburg Class of 1949 as a Professional Engineer. He served in the US Navy and Naval Reserve Corps of Engineers for 25 years and retired with the rank of Commander in 1978. Mr. Felix was the manager of Aircraft Installation at the Johnsville Naval Air Station in Warminster for 41 years prior to his retirement in 1991.
Mr. Felix was an Eagle Scout of the Boy Scouts of America and served a Scoutmaster of Troup 634 for which he received many awards. He was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, He taught Professional Engineering at Penn State University Ogontz Campus and was a member of St. Alphonsus Church in Maple Glen since 1965, and he also attended the annual retreats with the Men of Malvern.
He is the devoted father of John L. Felix, Jr. of Mount Joy, PA, Francis X. Felix of Center Valley, PA, Christopher M. Felix of Lansdale, PA, Paul B. Felix of Willow Grove, Suzanne A. Annios of Dresher, Philip J. Felix of Ambler, Theodore F. Felix of Horsham; He is the loving grandfather of 14 and brother of Robert E. Felix of Windber, PA.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Friday, July 23 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and Saturday, July 24 from 9:00 to 10:00 am at the Anton B. Urban Funeral Home, 1111 S. Bethlehem Pike, Ambler Funeral Mass 10:30 AM at St. Alphonsus Church with Rev. Stephen A. Moerman officiating. Interment will be in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Prospectville
