Leroy L. Korte
March 25, 1958 - July 3, 2011

Leroy L. Korte, age 53 of Monroe, died Sunday, July 03, 2011 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Monroe United Methodist Church with burial following at Dunreath Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Coburn Funeral Home of Monroe from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. with family present to greet friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Monroe Emergencies Unit and online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.


The son of Leon Korte and Melba (Schroder) Brummett, Leroy Leon Korte was born on March 25, 1958 in Sumner, Iowa. Leroy was united in marriage with Jeri Lynn Karr at the Monroe United Methodist Church in 1973. Leroy spent 10 years working for Van Gorp Manufacturing in Pella. He went on to work for several years as the maintenance supervisor for Crestview Acres. Leroy enjoyed gardening and watching wildlife around his pond. He also loved shooting his guns.

Those left to honor Leroy's memory are his wife, Jeri Lynn Korte of Monroe; two children, Melissa (Larry) Thompson of Des Moines and Gabriel (Debbie) Korte of Des Moines; five grandchildren, Cayla, Nathan, and Chance Korte of Des Moines and Alle and Gage Thompson of Des Moines; mother and step-father, Melba and Claude Brummett Jr. of Monroe; two brothers, Kelly (Maria) Korte of Las Vegas, NV and Kevin Korte of Waterloo, IA; one sister, Lynn (Paul) Pendroy of Monroe; step-mother, Carol Bolt Korte of Sumner, IA; one aunt, Donna Korte Winzenburg of Sumner, IA; 6 nieces, 10 nephews, 6 great-nieces, and 8 great-nephews. Leroy was preceded in death by his father and nephew, Travis Clark.
