William was born in Sioux City, IA on November 18, 1925, the son of William and Martha (Krabbenhoft) Rohde. He grew up in rural Homer and graduated from Homer High School. After graduation he farmed with his Dad. He married Ellen Beermann on August 22, 1948 at Salem Lutheran Church in Dakota City, NE. He was a farmer in Dakota County for over 35 years, an employee of Beermann Brothers Dehy for 10 years and K & P Market for 15 years.

Bill was extremely active in his church, St. Paul's Lutheran - where he served as past Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School teacher and council member. Bill was a lifelong Mason and attained the 3rd degree. Bill was also active in 4-H.

His loves during retirement included reading about history, economics, politics and daily news. He loved the conversation he found in Homer at the local eateries and enjoyed testing his knowledge of what he had read with the locals. Bill also loved following the Homer Knights (including his children, grandchildren, etc.) and could be found pacing the halls of Homer High School - always hoping for another Homer victory. He and Ellen enjoyed the camaraderie of the "Homer Card Club" which enjoyed many an evening playing cards and spinning yarns. Bill had a love of dancing, music and the arts overall. He and Ellen attended many a dance event with the great Eddie Skeets band and they also enjoyed many Sunday evenings listening to the soothing tones of the Sioux City Symphony at Grandview Park.

Bill is survived by three sons and their wives, Randy & Sherry and Bill & Jody, of Homer, NE, and Ron & Tracy of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Brandt & Radiance and son, Kason, Carrie & Ty and daughters, Hadyn and Macy, Logan & Gracie and sons, Ian and Aiden, Chase, Taylor and Trenton; and a sister, Dorothy Beermann of South Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Martha; his wife of 62 years, Ellen; brothers, Kenneth and Vernon; and sister, Delores.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the family for designation at a later date.
