Garland Glenn Van Kleeck

Garland Glenn Van Kleeck, 86, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away September 22, 2011 at his home. He was born on May 5, 1925, near Bassett, Chickasaw County, Iowa, to Burle and Claribel (Langdon) Van Kleeck. Garland graduated from Charles City High School. On June 6, 1946, Garland was united in marriage to Marjorie Shaw at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He owned and managed Floor Krafters in Hampton for many years until his retirement in 1987. Garland was member of the Jaycees, Rotary, Hampton United Methodist Church, and served on the Hampton City Council. He enjoyed woodworking and restoration, traveling to deliver motor homes around the United States and Canada, visiting with his grandchildren, telling stories about growing up on the farm, playing cards, family get togethers, gardening, and most of all, his home, nature, friends and family. Garland is survived by four children, Stanley and wife Debbie Van Kleeck of Yuma, Arizona, Steve and wife Mardell Van Kleeck of Hampton, Judy Straw of Hampton, and Joan Mulford of Hampton, six grandchildren, Collin and wife Leriza Van Kleeck of Salt Lake City, Utah, Clay Van Kleeck of Phoenix, Arizona, Cory Van Kleeck of Dallas, Texas, Jake Mulford of Pottsboro, Texas, Promise Mulford of Dallas, Texas, and Katie and husband Mike Ware of Longview, Texas, seven great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Mulford, Layton Mulford, Stephanie Van Kleeck, Connor Van Kleeck, Tryne Van Kleeck, Preston Ross, and Lane Ware, a brother, Milan Van Kleeck of Denver, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents, Burle and Claribel; his wife, Marjorie; a son, Paul; a sister, Shirley Marvin, and a great granddaughter, Mikyla. Garland will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Burial will be in the Hampton Cemetery.
