In loving memory of

Carl E. Wilson
May 19, 1939 - October 7, 2011

Carl E. Wilson, age 72 of Mingo, went home to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 7, 2011. On that date, he was also reunited with his son, David, who took the same journey five years ago. Carl loved to farm and help anyone in need. He loved to gather with his family and made sure his home was open to all. Carl was affectionately known as "Poppy" to his grandchildren and he especially cherished time spent with them. Carl was faithfully committed to the Lord and to the ministry at Bondurant Federated Church. He will be missed in every way by his church family and an unending line of community friends and farmers. Carl left earth a rich man, according to God's standard, when you consider his faith, his family, his friends, his life, and his love.

Carl was treasured by his wife and partner of 50 years, Sheryl Wilson on Mingo; children, Jeff (Stacey) Wilson of Newton and Diane (Kent) Wolfe of Hudson; daughter-in-law, Faith (Ben) Wilson-Kolo of Colfax; 9 grandchildren: Kassy (Travis) Shanks, Ashley Wolfe, Anna Wolfe, Preston Wilson, Kole Wilson, Grant Wolfe, Jessica Kolo, Emily Wilson, and Lain Wilson; two great-grandchildren, Dalton and Klaire Shanks and one sister, Carol (George) Van Zee of Pella. Carl was preceded in death by his parents and son, David Wilson.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Federated Church in Bondurant. Burial will follow at McKeever Cemetery. The family will greet friends during a visitation on Monday, October 10, 2011 at Federated Church from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Carl Wilson Memorial Fund and online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

"To Sheryl, Jeff, Diane, and extended family, I want to pass my sympathy on the loss of Carl. I remember him well from being on the school board to being on the same bowling team and a proud father of some of the best student/athletes I had the opportunity to work with while teaching and coaching at Mingo. "To Carl's family, I just want to express my sympathy to you. I met Carl on the WHO Tractor ride in the late 90's. I always enjoyed seeing him and my last chance to visit with him was at the State Fair this year. Carl and I did the dual pull thing a couple times during Tractor Ride and always enjoyed a good laugh about our successful team-work. He was a wonderful guy and I'm greatly saddened by his passing. I will truly miss him! Don Rimathe of Huxley"
