Alice M. Mommaerts, 70, Ashwaubenon, died Friday, October 21, 2005, at a local hospital. Alice fought a courageous battle against cancer, with her family at her side holding her hand to the very end. She was born March 23, 1935, in Green Bay to the late Ethel Jessogne. On August 20, 1955, she married Gary R. Mommaerts at St. Mary's of the Angel Catholic Church, Green Bay. Gary and Alice had recently celebrated the joyous occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary with friends and family. Alice devoted her life to her family as a full-time mother and wife. She also served as a caregiver for many other family members. Alice retired from the Ashwaubenon School District food service department.
Survivors include her husband, Gary; five sons and two daughters, Karen (Michael) DeGroot, DePere; Howard (Linda) Mommaerts, Howard; Brian (Sue) Mommaerts, Ashwaubenon; Mark (Jeanie) Mommaerts, DePere; Chris Mommaerts and his soul mate John Falkowski, DePere; Bruce (Wendy) Mommaerts, Bellevue; Tina (Daniel) Crevier, Ashwaubenon; thirteen grandchildren, Jessica, Alicia, and Gary DeGroot; Nicholas and Casey Mommaerts; Samantha and Ethan Mommaerts; Angela Mommaerts, Amanda (Nicholas) Hetcher; Stephanie and Renee Mommaerts; Courtney and Katherine Crevier; one great-granddaughter, Savannah DeGroot.
She was preceded in death by her mother Ethel, grandmother Louise Jessogne, and two aunts, Reinza Routhieaux and Hyacinth Fabry.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 24th, 2005, at Lyndahl Funeral Home with parish wake service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues from 9:30 to 10:30 Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1224 12th Ave, Green Bay, with the Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:30 a.m. Rev.
