Mary Poppele

Mary L. Poppele, 44, Green Bay, died Friday, April 2, 2004, at a local hospital. She was born March 31, 1960 to Margaret (Behling) and the late Benedict Maulbeck in East Orange, New Jersey. On June 7, 1981, she married Charles Jeff Poppele in Summit, New Jersey. Mary was employed by Imperial Supply Company in Green Bay for over 20 years, having many wonderful friends. She loved spending time with her family and watching her son Peter and her daughter Kelly's sporting events. When Mary was not working or at her children's sporting events, she could be found walking or exercising at the Howard YMCA. She was a very active sponsor for breast cancer awareness and was training to participate in the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation 3 day 60 mile walk in Chicago to raise money for breast cancer in which participant commit to raise $2,000 to enter the event. Mary also served as a member of the Green Bay Thunder Soccer Club as a district representative. Mary's passing came without warning 2 weeks ago as she was preparing for the Green Bay Marathon where she spent that morning walking with her sister-in-law, Tammy Annarumma and niece, Jessica. Survivors include her husband, Jeff; her children, Peter and Kelly, both at home; six brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl and Janet, Summit, NJ; Peter and Ginny, Bloomfield, NJ; Martin and Debbie, Morristown, NJ; Michael and Brenda, Parspinany, NJ; Gregor and Joan, Madison, NJ; and Mark and Lynn, Roselle Park, N.J. Jeff's parents, Charles and Norma Poppele, Montello, WI; one sister-in-law, Tammy and Mark Annarumma, Green Bay; two brothers-in-law, Greg and Lora Poppele, Montello,WI and Brad, Green Bay; nieces and nephews. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one sister, Theresa. Friends may call 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 5, at Lyndahl Funeral Home, Lombardi Ave. at Ridge Road. A wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2771 Oakwood Drive, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Msgr. James Dillenburg officiating. Interment in Allouez Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Mary's family would like to extend special thanks to the wonderful nurses and doctors at Bellin Hospital and Unity Hospice where she received loving care. Mary's family would also like to thank Imperial Supply Company, Shopko stores, and the Green Bay Marathon Training Group and friends for all their wonderful support.
