Joanne Schroeder, 68, Green Bay, died Thursday, December 8, 2005. She was born March 30, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois. She grew up on a farm in Daggett, Michigan where she loved driving her model B John Deere and graduated from Stephenson High School, Stephenson, Michigan. She graduated from the Business Institute of Milwaukee and was employed by Fort Howard Drop Forge and later managed the Brown County Selective Service Board. For several years, Joanne provided care for Jessica, Erica, Laura and Amy.
Joanne was very committed to helping others and a professional volunteer. She volunteered as a greeter at the Green Bay Botanical Gardens. Her love and genealogy led her to becoming a charter member of the Lindgren Vasa Lodge #754. She was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church and its women's organization. Joanne love of learning and reading led her to create and maintain libraries for the Green Bay Botanical Gardens, Vasa Lodge and Bethel. She was involved in the Fox Valley Chapter of Lutheran Church Library Association.
Joanne was dedicated to her family and taught by example. Her strong values of faith, family and community were woven throughout her roles as wife, mother, grandmother, friend and volunteer. She loved Howard and the girls and was always supportive of them in their endeavors. She enjoyed being a grandmother and watching them grow.
Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Howard; two daughters and sons-in-law, Reverend Karin and Joe Derenne, Oshkosh, Wisconsin and Jayne and John Oliver, Holmen, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Acacia, Michaela and Jacob, Megan and Natalie; her mother and stepfather, Ina and Clarence Highdale, Menominee, Michigan; one sister, Sandra Lindquist, Marinette; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call from 1:30 to 5:00 P.M. Sunday, December 11, at Bethel Lutheran Church, 1350 Bond Street. Visitation will continue after 9:30 A.M. Monday at the church where the funeral service will take place at 10:30 A.M. with the Rev. Gary Froseth officiating. Burial will be in Our Savior Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Lessor.
No flowers, please. A memorial has been established.
The family would like to express special thanks to the incredible support of St. Vincent ICU Unit, friends and relatives, including Shirley Rasmussen, Dale and Joanne Drake and Dave and Bev Shalkhauser.
