Edward Nerat

Edward J. Nerat, 68, Green Bay, died Sunday, September 10, 2006, at a local hospital. He was born July 9, 1938, to the late Ignace and Frances (Zinkowich) Nerat in Menominee, Michigan. Edward served in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1960. On November 30, 1985, he married Marlene (Zehren) Williquette in Green Bay. Edward retired in 1991 as Specialist II after 26 years with the Green Bay Police Dept. After retiring, he and Marlene spent winters in Gulf Shores, Alabama and Florida. He was an avid golfer and a highlight in his life was hitting a hole in one at Crystal Springs Golf Club in Seymour. Edward was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and any sporting event involving his grandchildren. He was a World War II buff, loved airplanes and enjoyed gardening. His great sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Marlene; seven children and their spouses, Peter and Nancy Nerat, Green Bay; Linda Spofford, Bakersfield, California; James and Teresa Williquette, Green Bay; Mike and Nancy Williquette, Green Bay; Mary and Clarence Mansfield, Sweet Home, Oregon; Susan Zuelke, Green Bay; and Wendy Williquette, Milwaukee; eight grandchildren, Leeshia LaTour; Brianna Spofford; Nicole (husband, Cem) Zengen; Jacob Williquette; Rachel Williquete; Ella Williquette; Matt Williquette; and Vanessa Zuelke; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Don Fillinger.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday, September 14, at Lyndahl Funeral Home. Visitation will continue after 10:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Earl Vorpagel III officiating. Burial will take place at Fort Howard Memorial Park with military honors.
