Margaret Faye Siewert, 84, Green Bay, died Tuesday, February 20, 2007, at a local hospital from complications due to rheumatoid arthritis. Margaret was born January 5, 1923, to the late John R. and Emma C. (Johnson) Abel, in the small mill town of Biron, Wisconsin, outside of Wisconsin Rapids. She attended school in Biron and graduated with the class of 1940 from Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids. She also attended business college in Milwaukee. On September 18, 1945, Margaret married V. Perry Siewert in Park Ridge, Illinois. He preceded her in death September 25, 1963. Margaret was a former member of Frame Memorial Presbyterian Church in Stevens Point and presently belonged to First Presbyterian Church in Green Bay. She was employed as a project payroll and bookkeeper for the Cooperative Educational Service Agency until her retirement. After moving to Green Bay to be closer to family, she worked for the family businesses until shortly before her death. Margaret was an avid bowler, card player, a member of the Women of the Moose, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Women of the Elks. She was also active in the Women's Circle at her church in Green Bay.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Nancy E. and David and Nancy J., De Pere and Dale and Sandra, Green Bay; two daughters and one son-in-law, Debra Siewert, Green Bay and Diane and Douglas Nelson, Eden Prairie, Minnesota; ten grandchildren, Barry (Meghan) Siewert; Blake (Kim) Siewert; Christopher, Shana and Stacy (fianc?, Paul Montalvo) Siewert; Brooke, Casey and Kyle Roden; and Lindsey and Andrew Nelson; four great-grandchildren, Hans, Erik, James and Morgan; one brother-in-law and three sisters-in-law, John and Ida Lee Siewert, Lou Vits and Jeanne King, all of Wisconsin Rapids; special friends, Clarence and Carol Mickelson and Margaret Leicht; other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Maurice and Florence Abel and Elmer and Dorothy Abel; and two brothers-in-law, Raymond King and Fritz Vits.
Margaret cared deeply for people and enjoyed sending cards that included lots of stickers to all. She was lovingly referred to by many as the ?Card Lady?.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, February 22, at Lyndahl Funeral Home. Visitation will continue after 10:00 A.M. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, 200 South Ashland Street, where the funeral service will take place at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Jan Davis officiating. Inurnment will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery in Wisconsin Rapids.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made either to the First Presbyterian Church in Green Bay, Wisconsin or the Wisconsin Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation.
Margaret enjoyed life and time spent with her family and friends. The family would especially like to thank Dr. Cynthia Geocaris, Dr. Mark Davis and the staff of 1 South at Bellin Hospital for their care and concern.
