Joseph Moline
October 18, 2011

Joseph H. Moline, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, beloved advisor and counselor, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2007, at Woodside Lutheran Home in Green Bay, Wisconsin, at the age of 88. He was born April 3, 1919, in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. Joe married Lorna Peterson in Holt, Minnesota on May 31, 1942, and they shared 65 years together.
Joe spent 28 years with the U. S. Army, Wisconsin National Guard and the U. S. Army Reserve, retiring as a reserve officer in 1969. He spent time on active duty during World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Berlin Crisis. His service in Norway during and after World War II earned him special recognition from the people of Norway.
Joe earned his bachelor's degree at St. Cloud State University and his master's degree from the University of Minnesota. He began his career in education as a teacher and guidance counselor in the Superior, Wisconsin public schools. He then joined the University of Wisconsin Superior staff, serving in various positions for 22 years. He was involved directly with the students, serving as director of student activities and he served many years as the dean of students. He retired in June of 1983 as the director of personnel at the university. Joe was active in the community of Superior and was a charter member and served on the board of the Douglas County Mental Health Association. An active member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Joe served on the church council and was a member of the men's group. He was also a member of Superior Elks Lodge. He was honored to be named Citizen of the Year for the City of Superior in 1989. Joe was an avid golfer and he enjoyed many hours in his retirement at the Nemadji golf course. He was especially pleased with the hole in one he achieved on the 9th hole on the course on October 26, 1989.
Joe was very proud of all of his children and grandchildren, taking special pride in their accomplishments. He loved having all of the family together. The children and grandchildren will always remember with love the fifteen years we all spent Christmas together in condos on the ocean in Satellite Beach, Florida, thanks to Mom and Dad. Joe was the love and strength of his family. In return, he was dearly loved by all and will be greatly missed.
