Mrs. Anton (Jen) Selner, 100, died Sunday, March 2, 2008, at a local nursing home. She was born August 19, 1907 to the late Joseph and Caroline (Dorner) Aschenbrenner in Luxemburg. She attended St. Mary's Grade School in Luxemburg. On October 4, 1933, Jen married Tony Selner at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Luxemburg; he preceded her in death July 17, 1997. They lived in Luxemburg until Tony's retirement in 1969 when they moved to Green Bay. Jen enjoyed dancing at Cliff & Ceils on Sundays. She also enjoyed playing bingo and cards.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Lois and Wayne Coppersmith; three granddaughters, Cheryl (Ed) Janke, Barbara (Terry) Monfort and Chris Lucas; seven great-grandchildren Brian Miller, Casey Janke, Elyisha Fye, Brad and Rachel Monfort and Brandon and Amanda Turnmeyer; one sister, Phil Quigley; nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Tony, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Cynthia Hallet; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carrie and Ed Seidl, Adeline Aschenbrenner and Jim Quigley; and three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Ed and Lena Aschenbrenner, Peter and Mabel Aschenbrenner and Killian Aschenbrenner.
Friends may call after 9:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 5, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1484 Ninth Street, where the Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 A.M. with the Rev. Richard Getchel officiating. Entombment will be at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd.
Jen's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staffs of Beverly Western Gardens and Unity Hospice, especially Christine, for the exceptional care and compassion that they provided.
