Lyla Meetz

Lyla Meetz, 97, formerly of Mill Center, moving to Green Bay in 1963, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at a local nursing home. She was born January 24, 1911, in Mill Center to the late William and Alma (Lawler) Hubbard. She was a graduate of Green Bay West High School. On November 7, 1936, she married Roland (Dempsey) Meetz; he preceded her in death September 21, 1944. Lyla had been employed at the Brown County Court House for 19 years, retiring in 1971. She enjoyed watching all sports on television but her real enjoyment came in watching the Packer games. She attended games at old city stadium and was a season ticket holder at Lambeau Field, attending games regularly for many years. She was a wonderful cook and making doughnuts was her specialty, providing them for all to enjoy at many occasions. It was always a special time for her when family and friends were together. She was a member of Martha Washington Chapter #124 Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Karen Meetz, Ashwaubenon; three grandchildren, Brian and Dottie Meetz, Florida; Brad and Jenny Meetz, Georgia; and Chrystal and Rich Zank, Howard; her great-grandchildren, Bradley, Chad and Ryan Meetz, Graham Meetz and Josh and Eric Zank; several nieces, nephews and their families; other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Cloyd, Ray and Dale Hubbard and two sisters, Mrs. Donald (Eva) Cameron and Mrs. Emery (Wilma) Pecard.
Friends may call after 9:00 A.M. Saturday, March 29, at Lyndahl Funeral Home where the funeral service will take place at 11:30 A.M. with the Rev. Diane Rew officiating. Burial will be at the Mill Center Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.lyndahl.com.
