In loving memory of

David Wingert
October 18, 2011

David L. Wingert, lifelong educator, proud father and grandfather was born March 17, 1931 and raised in Menomonie, Wisconsin and died Thursday, September 24, 2009 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
As Principal at Bay Port High School in Howard-Suamico for 20 years and through community involvement, Dave dedicated his life to working with young people. Dave retired from Bay Port in 1988 and moved to his lake home in Menomonie, Wisconsin, where he pursued his love of fishing, hunting and golfing, before eventually splitting his time between Green Bay and Sun City, Arizona in his later years.
Dave loved his family dearly. He actively participated in his four boys' lives and was happiest when he was able to help his sons overcome life's obstacles. Dave was blessed to have had two wonderful partners in his life, his soul mate and wife of 18 years, the former Joan Morneau of Bear Creek, Wisconsin (deceased in 1975) and later, longtime partner and caregiver, Mary.
Survivors include his sons, Michael (Julie); Steve (Monique); Scott; and David (Katie); and his significant other, Mary Zirbel; five incredible grandchildren, Lauren, Brigit, Alexis, Charlie and Sarah; his sister, Doris; and two brothers, Rich and Lloyd.
In addition to his parents, Michael and Geda Wingert and his wife, Joan, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bob and one sister, Emily.
Friends may call after 9 am Saturday, September 26, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1301 South Ridge Road, where the funeral service will take place at 11 am with the Rev. Earl Vorpagel III officiating. Online condolences may be expressed at www.lyndahl.com.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Dave's name.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Tammie Zelhofer and the caregivers at Heartland Hospice and Bishop's Court for their care and concern for Dave.
Dave will be sorely missed.
