Marguerite M. Hipwell, 87, Green Bay, passed away Thursday, November 26, 2009 at the Rennes Center in De Pere, Wisconsin. She was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada on March 9, 1922. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rosalie (LaCroix) LaRue. Marguerite was educated in Sault Ste. Marie and was employed as a secretary at the Algoma Steel Plant in Sault Ste. Marie.
On May 20, 1948, she married Jack Hipwell. After living in Canada for 18 years, they moved their family to Green Bay, Wisconsin. Jack preceded her in death on December 2, 2005.
Marguerite was a kind, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. For over 40 years, Marguerite was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she participated in many of the church groups. She also enjoyed making and sending greeting cards for all occasions.
Survivors include her four children and their spouses, David (Sue) Hipwell, Oconto; Nancy (Steve) Engels, De Pere; Janice (Matt) Mutka, Okemos, Michigan; and Ruth (Tim) Taddy, Kenosha; five grandchildren, Jessica (Chad) Rebstock, Karen Hipwell, Jack Taddy, Paul Mutka and Allison Mutka; one sister, Pauline (Bob) Ermatinger; two brothers, Leo (Diane) LaRue and Joseph (Colleen) LaRue; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Jack, she was preceded in death by one brother, John and two sisters, Jeanne and Theresa.
Friends may call after 9 am Tuesday, December 1, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1224 - 12th Avenue, where the Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 am with the Rev. Donald Everts officiating. Entombmemt will be at the Allouez Catholic Mausoleum.
