Joseph Nikodem

Joseph H. Nikodem, 62, passed away on Thursday afternoon December 3, 2009 in his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on December 17, 1946 on the family farm in Oneida, the son of Mike and Rose Marie Nikodem. He graduated from West De Pere High School in 1965. After graduation he served in the United States Army from 1966-1968 with a one-year tour of duty in Vietnam. On February 24, 1973 he married Donna M. Hendricks. They were married 36 years. After moving to the country, Joe started Joe's Auto Repair. Many of his customers became lifelong friends. Joe's life revolved around faith, family, and friends. He was a neighbor in the old-fashioned sense of the word. His passion was farming. He loved and enjoyed everything involved with nature and the land. We will miss his voice, his laughter and his wisdom. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife Donna, daughter Darcie, and his son-in-law Mike Bevers and the two apples of his eyes, granddaughters Kerstin and Kayla Bevers. He is also survived by his son Joseph Rocky Nikodem and also his five sisters, Helen (Jack) Falk, Virginia (William) Moehring, Kathleen (David) LeMarr, Leanne (Lowell) Schurr, and Charlotte Nikodem and fiancée Jerry Belleau; a sister-in-law Helen Luedman; and a brother-in-law Haldor Erickson. Joe is also survived by Donna's family Linda (Dan) Decker, Gary (Debbie) Hendricks, Fay (Jake) Van Camp and sister-in-law Donna Hendricks, many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles who were all very special to him.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, Mike, Raymond, 4 infant brothers, and one sister, Mary Jane Erickson. Also preceding him in death were his father and mother-in-law, Elmer and Evelyn Hendricks and brother-in-law, Glen Hendricks.

Visitation will be THIS SUNDAY, December 6, 2009 at Lyndahl Funeral Home in Green Bay from 3:00 PM until the time of service at 7:00 PM with Mr. Gerald Steenport officiating.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Joe's name.
