William H. Froelich, Jr., 69, Green Bay, passed away Wednesday morning October 20, 2010 following a lengthy illness.
He was born Dec. 21, 1940 in Green Bay to William Sr. and Elizabeth "Betty" (Renel) Froelich. On June 10, 1961 he married Beatrice G. Zochert in Green Bay. His wife, three children and six grandchildren survive him. William III (Kelley Williams), Emma and Molly Froelich, Baraboo WI; Barbara (Ted) Gloeckler, John and Grant Gloeckler, and Byron (Karen) Froelich, Logan and Erin Froelich, all from Green Bay. He is further survived by one sister, Gloria (Nestor) Jerabek, one sister-in-law Marlene (Dave) Riehl, one brother-in-law Larry Zochert (Cathy Johnson), five nieces and seven nephews.
Bill was a 1959 West High graduate. He first worked for his father-in-law in the hardware business. Next, he worked with his brother-in-law at a gas station next to the Packer Stadium, and eventually operated it himself for two years. Later he was employed by WPS Corp. for over 34 years, retiring in 2000. Bill and Bea traveled a lot, with and without their fifth wheel. They went to Europe, Canada, Hawaii, Alaska, and to many other parts of the United States. They enjoyed camping and fishing with friends and family. They also enjoyed square dancing, round dancing and square dance camping. Bill enjoyed duck hunting with his sons and grandchildren. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and the Green Bay Duck Hunters Association. Bill was a lifetime member of Grace Lutheran Church in Green Bay. He enjoyed telling stories and could give a detailed explanation for any question you might have.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Carol Hansen, his wife's sister-in-law Diane Zochert and two nieces.
Visitation will take place from 4:00 pm. to 8:00 pm. on Friday, October 22, 2010, at Lyndahl Funeral Home. Visitation will continue after 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church, 321 S. Madison Street, where funeral services will take place at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Larry Lange officiating. Entombment will be at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Bill's name to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
The family would like to thank everyone who visited and helped Grandpa Bill. A special thanks to the transplant team at Aurora St. Luke's Hospital in Milwaukee, the surgical ICU staff at St. Luke's, the staff at Green Bay Aurora Bay Care Hospital and the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic for the care and concern they showed Bill and Bea.
