Matthew Wilk, 87, Bellevue, died Saturday, November 27, 2010. He was born December 18, 1922 to the late Frank and Stephanie (Barnet) Wilk in Detroit, Michigan. Matthew served his country in the U. S. Navy for 6 years. On May 1, 1948, he married Lossie Johnson in Washington, D. C. She preceded him in death in 1999.
Matthew was employed for many years with the Scott Paper Company and retired in 1978. He was a long time active member of the Knights of Columbus in Florida and continued his membership in Green Bay. Matthew enjoyed fishing, loved the Florida sunshine and cherished his friends and family, especially his three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Dianne (Chuck) Wilson, Green Bay; three grandchildren, Matthew (Ellen) Greenville, Wisconsin, Kattie, Elmhurst, Illinois and David (Beth), Chaska, Minnesota; two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Maya; a sister, Dorothy Gworek, Florida and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Lossie, he was preceded in death by one son, Donald; two sisters, Mary Talarczyk and Anna Baranowski; three brothers, Peter, Chester and John and a nephew, Tom Talarczyk.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2771 Oakwood Drive in Green Bay at 3:00 pm with Reverend Paul DeMuth officiating with military honors to follow. Inurnment of cremated remains will be held at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. Memorials to the Knights of Columbus (council of your choice) would be appreciated.
