In loving memory of

Teresa Elfe
October 18, 2011

Teresa L. Elfe, 87, died peacefully at her home on Super Bowl Sunday, February 6, 2011, surrounded by her family. She was born February 24, 1923 in DePere to the late Arnold and Anna (Aerts) Geurts. On June 3, 1944, she married Conrad (Connie) Elfe at St. Mary's Catholic Church in DePere. They enjoyed 39 years of marriage together; he preceded her in death April 24, 1984.
Teresa worked for Encompass Child Care in Green Bay, where she helped to prepare meals for the children in the daycare centers until she retired at the age of 76. She was very proud of that accomplishment. Mom loved to go to her grandchildren's athletic events where she proudly cheered them on. She also loved to go to the Brewer games and thought tailgating was the most fun part of the day. Teresa cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She thought of them as gifts from God and loved hearing about what was going on in their lives. She was very dedicated to her family and it cannot be put into words how deeply she will be missed. She had a heart of gold and her apple pies were the best and were birthday requests rather than a cake. Her favorite past time was playing cards with family and friends and weekends at Loon Lake.
Survivors include her children, Ron (Penny) Elfe, Ashwaubenon; Joanne (Mike) VandeHei, DePere; and Mark (Mary) Elfe, DePere; seven grandchildren, Tony and Brad (special friend, Kelly Baeten) Elfe; Bryan VandeHei (special friend, Kerri Smith); Jill (Tim) Williams; Paul (Leann) VandeHei; Chad (Melanie) Elfe; and Nicole (Adam) Zeinert; seven great-grandchildren, Carson Elfe, Bryce and Breanna VandeHei, Alivea VandeHei,Katelin and Jonah Zeinert; one brother, Clarence Geurts, Ashwaubenon; one sister, Dorothy Mae Wicker, Wrightstown; one brother-in-law, Andrew Albers, Ashwaubenon; and one sister-in-law, Hilda Elfe, Wausau and many nieces , nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank (Ophelia) Geurts, Elmer (Lillian) Geurts, Leo (Marie) Geurts, Robert (Esther) Geurts, Ernest (Florence) Geurts and Bernard (Evelyn) Geurts; sister, Orilla Albers; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Viola (Wilburt) Leiterman and Marcella (Harvey) Seiler; brother-in-law, Ignatius "Bud" Wicker and Leland Elfe; and sister-in-law, Mary Geurts.
Friends may call from 5 to 7:30 pm Wednesday at Lyndahl Funeral Home where a parish wake service will take place at 7 pm. Visitation will continue after 10 am Thursday at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 2270 South Oneida, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am with the Rev. John J. Becker presiding. Entombment will be at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Teresa's name. All memorials will be directed to the hearing impaired.
The family would like to thank Dr. Violeta Minca and the entire staff from Heartland Hospice, especially Barb, Shannon, Mary and Cindy. Our deep appreciation to volunteers, Rebecca and Marla, who encouraged and prayed with us and helped us to send mom home with Dad. Also, a special thanks to Linda Kessenich, a friend of the family.
