Ruby A. Highdale, 83, Green Bay, died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 with family at her side. She was born on Dec. 14, 1927, in Jordan, Montana to the late Rev. Jacob and Elsie (Kaufman) Maier. She was a 1946 graduate of Marinette High School. On Dec. 20, 1948, she married Ralph Highdale. They moved to Green Bay in 1949. Ralph preceded her in death on March 24, 1969. Ruby waitressed and cooked at various restaurants in Green Bay, including Seaway Cafe, White Front, Happy Days and Blackstone. She retired in 1987. In her retirement years, she enjoyed crafts and playing Pinochle with her friends, Betty, Ann, Red and Eleanor. Time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought much joy to Ruby's life. She will be sadly missed.
Survivors include five children: Mike Highdale, Green Bay, Darrell Highdale, Green Bay, Francine (James) Davis, Forestville, WI, Dwayne (Mary) Highdale, Luxemburg, and Rosemarie Edges (fiance, Kent Anderson), Green Bay; seven grandchildren: Mike Highdale, Jr., Kevin Highdale, Kenneth Highdale, Mandy Davis (Ken Beck), Carrie (Eric) Delveaux, Rachel Davis and Amber Edges; five great grandchildren: Jonathon Highdale; Alexandra, Austin and Zachery Delveaux; and Collin Davis; two sisters: Jewel Goldsmith, Marinette, and June (Bob) King, Menomonee, MI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ruby was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers-in-law: Irene and Werner Niemeyer, and Jerry Goldsmith.
Visitation will take place after 4:00 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2011, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1301 S. Ridge Rd., where funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. with Intern Pastor Cindy Meyer officiating. Interment in Fort Howard Memorial Park. Online condolences may be expressed at www.lyndahl.com.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established for Unity Hospice.
