Kris Hanson

Kris Ann Hanson, 56, Green Bay, passed away Monday, August 1, 2011, as the result of a bicycling accident. Kris was born August 27, 1954, the daughter of Helen (Harman) Hammerberg and the late Stewart Hammerberg, in New London, WI. She married Douglas Hanson on October 4, 1975, in Green Bay, WI. Kris was employed at Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church as the parish secretary for 20 years and Fusion Integrated Solutions as a bookkeeper and secretary since June 2010.
Kris was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church where she sang in the Bethel Choir and Worship and Praise Choir, a member of the Joy Bible Study group, worship assistant, member of book club, knit prayer shawls, and she ministered to the people of the congregation in countless ways. She organized Red Cross Blood drives with her husband Douglas, was an avid bicyclist, reader, knitter, seamstress, baker, gardener and camper. Kris used her many artistic talents to touch the lives of many. Kris's smile and care for people will be greatly missed.
Kris will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 35 years, Douglas; her two sons and daughters-in-law, Joshua and Lisa, Green Bay, Nicholas and Sara, New York City, NY; one daughter, Heidi, St. Paul, MN; her mother, Helen (Harman) Hammerberg, Green Bay, WI; one brother, Knute (Joyce), Owatonna, MN; her mother-in-law, Evelyn Hanson, Green Bay, WI; one sister-in-law, Marilyn Meister (Marvin), Green Bay; three brothers-in-law, David Hanson (Donna), Des Plaines, IL, Duane Hanson (Mary), Wasilla, AK, Donald Hanson (Gloria), Folsom, CA; one grandson, Fritchiof; and many nieces and nephews.
Kris was preceded in death by her father, Stewart Hammerberg, Green Bay, WI; father-in-law, Marvin Hanson, Green Bay, WI; and brother-in-law, Denis Hanson, Appleton, WI.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 12 from 4 pm until 8 pm at Bethel Lutheran Church, 1350 Bond Street. Visitation will continue again at the church on Saturday, August 13 from 9:30-11 a.m. where the funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Reverend Amy Engebose officiating.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Kris's name.
