Ruth Staszak, 91, Ashwaubenon, died Sunday, October 9, 2011, at a local nursing home. She was born October 30, 1919 to the late John and Magdalyn (Peters) Mancheski in Green Bay. On October 24, 1939, she married Joseph Staszak in Pulaski; he preceded her in death November 18, 2001.
Ruth's mother died when she was three years old and was raised by her father's sister and husband, Francis and John Blachinsky. She attended one year of high school at Green Bay East High School and then her family moved to Pulaski where she graduated from high school.
On October 24, 1939, she married Joe Staszak in Pulaski. They were married for 64 happy years before his death. They traveled to California, Missouri, Europe, Singapore and went on several bus tours all over the United States. Ruth was employed at Prange's for five years so her younger sons could have spending money while attending college. She was attractive, kind, loyal, fun, a good friend and cook, a great mom and she and dad made holidays special for all the family. Ruth was the kind of grandparent that everyone would want and she loved her grandchildren greatly and babysat with them a great deal. We all loved her and our dad has been waiting a long time to be with her again and she will have a lot to tell him.
She is survived by her four children, Mike Staszak, Green Bay, and his three children, Mitch (Kris), Steffanie (Tim) Kennedy and Stacie Stein; Susan K. Liebergen, Green Bay, and her three children, Scott (Leah), Jody (Aaron Shaha) and Matt (Sheri); Jeff Staszak, California, and his three children, Joe, Jake and Ellie; Doug Staszak (Carol), Kansas, and their two children, Tyler (Sara) and Jessica; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Leo Staszak, Necedah and Florian (Florence) Staszak, Milwaukee; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Cecil Olsen; her half-sister, Loretta Goska; sisters-in-law, Mary, Lucille, Emily, Betty and Mildred; brothers-in-law, Casey, Frank and Harry; Father Norbert Staszak and Father David Staszak; and her son-in-law, David Liebergen.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm at Lyndahl Funeral Home where a parish wake service will take place at 6 pm. Visitation will continue after 10 am Thursday at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 2270 South Oneida Street, where the Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 am with the Rev. Jack Harper officiating. Burial will be at the Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
The family would like to express special thanks to the nursing staff at Rennes Health Center in De Pere for their care and concern for Ruth.
