Richard A. Schulz, 58, of Maquoketa, Iowa, died suddenly on Wednesday, October 19, 2011, at the Jackson County Regional Health Center in Maquoketa, Iowa.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1:30 P.M., Saturday, October 22, 2011, from the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa, Iowa. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa. Burial will be at the Hickory Grove Cemetery, rural Monmouth, Iowa.
Richard Allen Schulz was born on July 5, 1953 in DeWitt, Iowa, to Herbert W. and Helen L. (Brockmiller) Schulz. He was a 1973 graduate of DeWitt Community High School and received his Associates Degree from Scott Community College. He married Mary Ellen Clark on April 24, 1976 in Delmar, Iowa.
Richard had worked as a general laborer for Jackson Pallet in LaMotte, Iowa from 1993 to 2004 and from 2004 to 2009 in the Shipping Department at Family Dollar in Maquoketa.
Richard enjoyed woodworking, fishing for Catfish, and being outside. He especially enjoyed caring for his lawn doing yard work and mowing.
Richard is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Schulz of Maquoketa, IA; children, Joshua Schulz of Maquoketa, IA, Jason Schulz of Maquoketa, IA, and Miranda Schulz of Maquoketa, IA; 2 grandchildren, Karlee and Camdyn; a sister, Carol (Fritz) Green of Welton, IA; brothers, Marvin "Butch" Schulz of Welton, IA, Herbert (Betty) Schulz of Maquoketa, IA, and Mike (Tammy) Schulz of Maquoketa, IA; and his mother-in-law, Berna (Lane) Sagers of Maquoketa, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 sisters, Karen, Cindy and JoAnn.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Richard A. Schulz memorial fund has been established.
