Harriet wrote on Dec 3, 2010:
"Dear Family of Adriaan Herklots, I was reading the January 9, 2010 Sun-Sentinel and saw
the notice of Adriaan's death. I wanted to share an encouraging thought with you.
When Adam and Even, the first man and woman, were created by Jehovah God, his purpose was to have the couple and their offspring live forever on a paradise earth. The pair chose to disobey God and brought suffering, sickness, and death to all of us.
Happily, God's original purpose for mankind has not changed. He will soon bring an end to all our troubles by means of his heavenly Kingdom government in the hands of his Son, Jesus Christ.
Revelation, chapter 21, verses 3 and 4 state:
" And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore."
Our dead loved ones will be resurrected--brought back to life again--on earth.
Acts 24:15 promises:
"I have hope toward God...that there is going to be a resurrection of both the
righteous and the unrighteous."
I hope these thoughts brought you comfort.
With deepest sympathy,
Harriet"

"I was privileged to meet Adrian when he worked at Quinebaug Valley. My father was a newspaper man and we enjoyed stories about both of their days in the newspaper business. He was quite a guy and I feel privileged to have known him. We also were fortunate to have sen him and Mary Athena at Mozzarella's restaurant a few weeks before he passed away. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. - Kevin and Jane Anderson"

"Our condolences to the Herklots family. I (Brian) started teaching at Quinebaug Valley Community College (Conn.) year after "Doc." moved on to new adventures, but his legacy remained and his influence still appears periodically in the people still around who knew him personally. He will be remembered here in the "Quiet Corner" of Connecticut...and beyond, I am sure."

Robert and Sylvia Miller wrote on Jan 11, 2010:
"We all have extraordinary people who enter our lives and enrich them in special ways. Adriaan was one of those.
He touched the lives of many people in many different ways. His strong advocacy for a college in northeastern CT via his position as publisher and editor of The Windham County Transcript aided substantially in making that goal a reality. He later became Director of Financial Aid at Quinebaug Valley Community College. He worked tirelessly to assist the hundreds of students who passed through his office looking for an opportunity to attend college and to better their lives. He also became recognized by his colleagues at the other Connecticut community colleges as a source of inspiration and expertise in the financial aid field. He was not only a wonderful colleague, but a dear friend. I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to talk to him just four weeks ago. As always, he was positive, upbeat and complimentary of the efforts of others for achievements that he himself had made possible. MaryAthena was the love of his life and Sylvia and I extend to her and his beloved sons and grandchildren our deepest sympathy and assurance that they and Adriaan are in our prayers."
Faith Robinson wrote on Jan 11, 2010:
"Adriaan showered all with his generous spirit showing by example what it means to have "quality" TIME interacting with others and sharing so much of himself. Wherever he was, he worked effectively to truly teach and mentor. Choosing just the right word in communications made it a great deal of fun! We will miss him in countless ways. Our thoughts and prayers are with Maryathena, Dick, Bill, Lynn, Kandy, Michael and Sarah and his extended family and friends. With love, Faith Robinson"
The Herklots Family wrote on Jan 11, 2010:

For those of you in the Northeast, there will be a service in Connecticut in a week or so. Details will appear in an obituary to run in the Norwich Bulletin in the next week or so when plans are completed."
Colleen and Jeff Quinn wrote on Jan 10, 2010:
"We were so sorry to hear of "Doc's" passing. The Herklots crew has always been like family to us, from way back. Adriaan was always so very kind to us, never failing to ask about the well being of our own family, especially the children. It was always a treat to visit with him and trade stories of life; and, we looked forward to his Christmas cards with their inspirational words. And, it remains a high honor and distinct privilege to have shared in his completion of the Marine Corps marathon. His was a life well done, and we are grateful that he enriched our lives. The acorns do not fall far from the tree, and we know that his legacy lives on through his terrific sons. You are all in our thoughts and prayers, and may God bless you in these diffcult days."
