Clair Jelliff wrote on Dec 6, 2011:

"There are countless things that I could reflect on with Dan. He was always the most affable person in any room he was in. He was always smiling and laughing and was truly a good person. I had the priviledge of having lived with Dan on 3 separate occasions and the memories we shared will always be with me. One just came to mind and I just have to share. :) It was in Fargo, ND. It was in 1997 and we had had more snow than any other year in our memory. The weather had us down and thinking of better places. So Dan, myself and my other roommate decided we would just drive to the airport and fly to Hawaii for a week. Of course, being college students and so forth, we elected to not go but we did actually pack bags and were on our way to Hector International. I laugh about it now but man, it was that spontenaity that I will always remember. Never a dull moment with Dan and he was a man who would give you the shirt off his back. I also told my mother of his passing today. She was in shock. Her description probably best captures what pretty much everyone would think...she said, "you couldn't help but like Dan. He was always so pleasant." Oh Dan, you will be missed. I regret not getting to spend more time with you in recent years. You will be missed but your memory will always remain."
