Memorials to Circle of Life Hospice - Legacy Lodge in Chariton
Marion J. Churchill was born July 9, 1938 in Lacona, Iowa to Jesse Rex and Vivian (Freeman) Conner. The youngest of three children. Marion passed at Legacy Lodge Hospice on October 21, 2010 at the age of 72. She spent most of her life in and around the Chariton area. On August 12, 1955 she married Charles R. Johnson (deceased) and to this union her loving daughter Crystal Johnson was born. She married Thomas W. O'Leary November 10, 1978, also deceased. She was united in marriage with her long time companion and loving husband Gary E. Churchill on August 4, 2000. He preceded her in death on October 10, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brother Everet Wayne Conner and sister Elaine L. Gill.
She is survived by her daughter Crystal Johnson of St. Joseph, MO. Grandchildren Alyse (Mike) Cordonnier, and Derek Briggs. Great-Grandchildren Bailey and Kayla Cordonnier and Zane Briggs. Her sister Carol Wille and one niece Sarah Hoff both of Florida. Special aunts Lavonna (Walter) Sivill of Chariton, Esther (Charles) Walker of Oregon. Brother-in Law Winn Gill of Colorado. Her step-children, Arthur Churchill of Des Moines, Linda (Steve) Crawford of Granger, and Mary Churchill of Des Moines. Step-Grandchildren Megan and Heather Churchill, Ryan and Katie Crawford and step Great-Grandchildren Jordon Sands, Alaina Heaston and Abigail Crawford. Many relatives, cousins and friends.
Marion retired from the Chariton school system where she was employed for many years. She was a very talented and giving person that shared her love and her gifts with her family and many friends. Sometimes it came in the form of a birthday or anniversary card, for any occasion, she always enclosed her love, too. Perhaps it was something she had sewn, crocheted, quilted, baked or made. She loved to bowl and looked forward to the state tournament every year. Most of all she loved spending time with her Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren.

"Marion was in my class in highschool (CHS Class of 1956). I didn't really know Gary very well, but knew his mother, Leona Churchill. We went to the same church (Grace Baptist-Chariton)and used to occasionally pick up Mrs. Churchill and take her to church. She was our daughter's Sunday School teacher when Julie was little. Our prayers are with your famiies."

"My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of sorrow. Marion was a very special person and will be missed by all of us. Gary and Marion it's hard to think God gave all of this for you to bear.I was just looking at the CD she made of our Class, last week. Memories of both of them can bring you through this with the help of God. We just lost Ernie's Mother this past week. On Thursday I had a heart attack,I had just gone to feed Ernie's Mother lunch at Mercy Hospital, had attack in Valet Parking waiting area. How lucky can one get, at least I wasn't driving, hurt someone or do any damage to anything.Sorry, I cannot attend the funeral today of Marion,I am having Surgery at 1:00 p.m. today. My prayers, and thoughts are with you in your time of Sorrow.
