"Today, a friend sent an email link to the Outpost Harry Association. I'd heard of this battle, but knew only that it was a singluar example of an heroic defense by American troops against near hopeless odds. I began reading some of the stories. The one I read first was Mr. Storie's tribute to his comrade, Ron Bradley. It compelled me to attempt to see if I could locate Mr. Storie merely to thank him for his service to our country. I then learned that he died some time ago. I guess I just wanted his family to know that for most Americans, the sacrifices made on our behalf by men and women like Walden Storie, Ron Bradley and all the others at places like Outpost Harry, Khe Sanh, Iwo Jima, Omaha Beach and countless other battlefields around the world will never be forgotten. Foiest Walden Storie, age 80, of Springboro, OH; went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday December 13, 2011 at Kettering Hospital. Walden was born in Byrdstown, TN on October 9, 1931 to Estel and Nenah (King) Storie. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army and received the Silver Star and Purple Heart. Walden retired from General Motors Delco Moraine following 33 years of employment and was an active member of the Springboro Baptist Church for 40 years where he served as a deacon. He was preceded in death by his son Jeff Storie and brother Hollis Storie. Walden is survived by his wife of 60 years Cora (Moon) Storie; a daughter Sandy Storie Bergheger; grandchildren Sara, Allison, and Haley Bergheger; Josh and Callie Storie; a daughter-in-law Barbara; 2 brothers George and Rick Storie; 2 sisters Ruth Storie Moon and Angie Storie Stembridge; and also many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Funeral services are Saturday December 17, 2011 at 11am at Springboro Baptist Church with Rev. Cornelious Hancock and Rev. Arnold Moon officiating. Burial will be in Springboro Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be Friday from 5-8pm at Anderson Funeral Home 40 N. Main St Springboro, OH. "Cora and Walden were such good friends of my mother in law, Mella Hall. Walden pushed her around in her wheelchair so that she could go on trips with her friends. Cora and Walden also made a special trip to my house to contribute their photos of the 1965 Sesquicentennial for the Springboro Pictorial History Book published in 2003. Both Cora and Walden have been such wonderful, loving members of our community. Our thought and prayers are with you, Cora. "
