"Marlene was my very excellent godmother. As a little girl, I will always remember her thoughtfulness and consideration for me. Although she had other godchildren, she always attended my special occasions ( recitals, birthdays), and always recognized my contributions. That wasn't an easy task, as I was a very quiet and compliant child, being easily "lost" in the crowd of our extended family. She put forth the extra effort. Merlin, Zak, and Laura, I am so very sorry for your loss. "

"When I was very young, in the mid-1960's, Marlene seemed more my fascinating older sister than my aunt. She was the cool older kid, with the bongo drums and Ray Charles albums in her room. She looked inexplicably like Ava Gardner. Tonight, we'll shuffle our Frank Sinatra and Ray Charles, and remember Marlene fondly. So sorry for your loss. "
