Mary Helen "Penny" Penrose
January 24, 1915 - January 15, 2012

Mary Helen 'Penny' Penrose, 96 of Keokuk passed away at 12:50 am on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at River Hills Village.

She was born on January 24, 1915 to James and Nell McCoy Penrose in Keokuk, IA.

Penny was a lifelong resident of Keokuk. She graduated from St. Peter's High School in Keokuk and later from St. Anthony's School of Nursing in Rock Island, IL. Penny was a member of All Saints Catholic Church.

She is survived by seven nieces and nephews: Larry Penrose and his wife Margaret of Bostic, NC; Sheila Ealey and her husband Paul of Chillicothe, MO; Lawrence Winkler and his wife Carol of Cantwell, AK; Paula Boylan of Palmdale, CA; Mary VanZant and her husband Steve of Adairsville, GA; Jim Winkler and his wife Nancy of Montrose, IA and Alice Morehouse and her husband Gary of Alexandria, MO. Sixteen great nieces and nephews also survive.

Penny was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: James and Laurence Penrose, one brother in infancy, one sister: Jeanne Winkler and one great nephew: Joseph Penrose.

Her body has been donated to the University of Iowa Hospitals. Memorial Mass will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 18 at All Saints Catholic Church with Rev. Robert Lathrop officiating.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10 am just prior to the service Wednesday morning at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to All Saints Catholic Church or to the Keokuk Public Library.
