Shirley Lou Foor
June 2, 1935 - January 15, 2012

Shirley Lou Foor, 76, of Morning Sun, formerly of Wapello died at 1:50 p.m. on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Wapello Nursing and Rehab Center.

Born June 2, 1935 in rural Wapello she was the daughter of Cecil and Mary (Hamilton) Spitznogle. On August 31, 1952 she married Maurice "Moke" Foor. He preceded her in death on September 28, 1979.

In her younger years Shirley worked for Price's Drugstore in Wapello and as a cook at The Wapello Elementary School. She also was a homemaker when her children were little. Shirley alongside her husband, Moke, owned and operated the Dairy Bar in Wapello and Foor's Fashion. In her later years she worked for Benjamin Apothecary and Drug Town.

Shirley was a member of the Wapello United Methodist Church where she played the piano for many years. She continued her talent when she transferred her membership to the Morning Sun United Methodist Church. She was active in Wapello Music Booster Club and Boy Scouts.

Shirley was a piano teacher for many students and accompanied many high school students at band contest. She enjoyed playing bridge, shopping going to the casino and cooking especially noodles and pies. Shirley also enjoyed sports and was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan.

In recent years, Shirley alongside her sister, Ginny spent much time traveling the United States in there motorhome. Shirley's biggest enjoyment was traveling to her granddaughter, Megan's softball games to cheer her on.

Survivors include one son, Randy (Kim) Foor of Morning Sun; one daughter, Tammy (Kirk) Keller of Wapello; grandchildren, Ryan Foor, Collin Johnston, Megan Foor, Landon Keller, Jordan Keller, Zachariah Newman, Jazzla (Mike) Walters and Gaberial Newman; nieces and nephews including special nieces and nephews, Lynette Moore, Marrianne Giese and Steven Maine; also many first cousins.

In addition to her husband "Moke", her parents, her stepfather, Delbert Shelburg, two brothers in infancy and two sisters, Virginia "Ginny" Spitznogle and Dian Maine preceded her in death.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 20th at the Morning Sun United Methodist Church.

The memorial funeral service for Shirley will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 21st at the Morning Sun United Methodist Church. The Rev. Sue Ellen Sherman will officiate. Private family inurnment will be in Parsons Cemetery, rural Oakville.

According to Shirley's wishes, cremation has been accorded.

A memorial has been established for the Morning Sun United Methodist Church.

Per Shirley's request, Whitney at Lunning Chapel has been entrusted with her care.
