Darrell Dwayne Dallege
December 9, 1934 - January 16, 2012


Darrell Dwayne Dallege, of Tipton died peacefully at home, Monday, January 16, 2012, just a few feet from the room in which he was born 77 years ago. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 10:30 am at Fry Funeral Home with Reverend Norman Anderson officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Burial will follow in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery. A memorial has been established in his memory.

Darrell was born December 9, 1934, the youngest son of Vance Oral and Nellie Mae Buckman Dallege, Cedar County, Iowa. As a child he attended primary school at two small country schools and graduated from Tipton High School. Darrell married his high school sweetheart, Florence Eloise Regennitter, on August 22, 1954 at Rochester United Methodist Church, celebrating their 57th anniversary this fall. They spent the first 6 years of their marriage in Tipton, then together they raised their three children on the same farm that Darrell was born and raised, just a few miles south of town. Darrell spent his life perfecting his craft as a master carpenter, building many homes in the Tipton area, as well as other communities across the nation, from Phoenix to Chicago. He also lovingly worked the family farm. Darrell enjoyed working on and painting cars and old Harley motorcycles with his sons, playing basketball with his grandchildren and sneaking cookies to the family dog.

Darrell is dearly loved and survived by his wife, Florence Dallege, Tipton; daughter, Tamara Renae Dallege (Anthony Crawford) of Cedar Rapids; sons, Daniel Lee (Cinda) Dallege of Andrew, Steven Douglas (Lynn) Dallege of Oxford Junction; 6 grandchildren, Cody (Coral) Dallege, Kit (Tegan) Dallege, Laci (Mike) Lee, Eli Foreman, Noah Foreman and Isaiah Foreman; 2 great-grandchildren, Aubrey Lee and Wesley Simon; sisters, Francis Ahrens of Tipton, Clara Eves of Tipton; and brother, Harley (Delores) Dallege of Marion; sister-in law, Marilyn Fowler of Davenport, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vance and Nellie Dallege; in-laws, Ernest and Bertha Regennitter; sister, Edna; brothers, Lester, Leo and Floyd; sisters-in law, Ramona, Rosemary, Dorothy and Jeanetta; brothers-in-law, Eugene Eves, Wayne Ahrens, Warren Ahrens and Kenneth Fowler.
