Jean Washburn
June 22, 1936 - January 17, 2012

Jean A. Washburn, 75, of Keokuk, died at 5:45 AM Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Lexington Square in Keokuk.

Jean was born June 22, 1936, in Keokuk, the daughter of Alvie (Dude) and Margaret Boyd Land.

She married Glen J. Washburn on June 27, 1953 in Keokuk. He preceded her in death on June 13, 2009. She was a lifelong resident of Keokuk and worked as a custodian for several years. She was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church and then became a member of All Saints Catholic Church.

Jean was an avid gardener of both flowers and vegetables. She also enjoyed fishing and word search puzzles. While the Native American Indians held their gatherings in Rand Park, she never missed attending one.

She is survived by three children, Holly Schrepfer and husband Donald of Keokuk, Timothy Washburn and wife Rose of Sunnyvale, California, and Glenda Quinn-Dallas of Keokuk; two brothers, Alvie "Bill" Land of Basco, Illinois and Richard Land of Phoenix, Arizona; one sister: Margaret Linderman of Layton, Utah; eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 11 AM at All Saints Catholic Church with Reverend Robert Lathrop officiating. Burial will be in Keokuk National Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9 to10:30 at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Centers at 1212 Concert Street.
