Ola Mae Kendrick, 77, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Sunny Hill Health Care Center in Madison, WI. She was born April 13, 1934, in Mounds, IL, to Roosevelt and Pauline (Hudson) Young.
She is survived by her sister, Genelle Y. Eanes, and her six children--Rita, Taryea, Malcolm, Karl (Evelyn), Michael, and Richard. Ola is preceded in death by her daughter; Evangeline, sisters; Willie B. Turner and Ernestine "Stine" Meeks, brother; John Young, as well as two other siblings, and niece, Suetta.
In her earlier years, Ola worked at the Bank of Madison for 17 years, then later moved to DNR, from where she retired 19 years later. Ola was a loving and devoted single mother, who lived for her children and those that loved her. She will truly be missed. She also leaves behind nieces; Sheila Y. Eanes, Paula (Jim) Eanes-McCullough, Devra Edwards(Henry), Donna and Onesia Young; nephew; Darrell Young; grandchildren; Donnell, Tonya, Cylina, Tevin, Taylor, Tyler, and Payton as well as four great-grandchildren; Marquis, Mark Jr., Jermaine, and Madison.
Memorial services for Ola will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Joseph H. Jackson Jr. officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
