Alice Leopold Therkilsen
August 22, 1919 - January 19, 2012

Alice Edith (Halter) Leopold Therkilsen was born on August 22, 1919 in Highwater Township, Cottonwood County, Minnesota to William and Mina (Everson) Halter. She was baptized and later confirmed at the Sharon Lutheran Church in Lamberton, Minnesota. She received her education from District 3 in Highwater Township and graduated in 1939 from Lamberton High School.

In October of 1940, Alice was united in marriage to Wesley Leopold. This marriage was blessed with four children, James, Patricia, Dennis and Janell. After marriage, Alice and Wesley lived in rural Sanborn, Cottonwood County where Alice kept busy as a homemaker. Wesley passed away August 6, 1968. After his death, Alice moved to Windom and worked at the Windom Flower Store, Northside Drug Store in Windom and did seamstress work for many people.

On January 24, 1976, Alice was united in marriage to Roy Therkilsen at Stately Lutheran Church. After their marriage they made their home in Jeffers. Alice moved into the Good Samaritan Society of Windom in May of 2008 where she remained until passing away on Thursday morning, January 19, 2012 at the age of 92.

Alice was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jeffers. She will be remembered for her love of flowers, gardening, crafts, making plates, oil painting and baking pies. Alice loved quilting and would donate them to people and the Shetek Bible Camp.

She is survived by her loving husband, Roy Therkilsen of Jeffers; three children, James Leopold and his wife, Jean, of St. James; Patricia Rasmussen and her husband, Harlan, of Jeffers; and Janell Johnson and her husband, Richard, of New Ulm; five step-children, Rodney Therkilsen and his wife, JoAnn; Jennifer Therkilsen-Gebhart and her husband, Duane; Jay Therkilsen and his wife, Alberta; Randy Therkilsen and his wife, Maureen; and Terry Therkilsen and his wife, Jeri; nine grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; eleven step-grandchildren; nineteen step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Evelyn Pooch of Minneapolis; Mildred Pooch of Mound; and Arlene Nerem and her husband, Ray, of Lamberton; one brother, Bill Halter and his wife, Lillian, of Springfield; and several other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Wesley Leopold; one son, Dennis Leopold; four brothers, Arnold, Lloyd, Floyd, and infant Clarence Halter; and one sister, Gladys Krueger.
