In loving memory of

Helen Frances (Woulfe) Flynn
May 27, 1918 - January 16, 2012

Madison - Helen Frances (Woulfe) Flynn, age 93, our mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed on at home on January 16, 2012. She was born at Madison General Hospital, in Madison, on May 27, 1918, the youngest child of John and Margaret Woulfe. She attended St. Raphael's Grade School, was a graduate of Central High School, class of 1934, and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from UW Madison in June 1938. Helen and Richard "Dick" Flynn were married on August 8, 1942 at St. Raphael's Cathedral, and celebrated their fiftieth anniversary in 1992. After graduation, Helen was employed in the State Capitol in the accounting division of the Secretary of State's office, which in later years became part of the new Department of Administration. With the expected arrival of their first child in 1947, Helen left her work to become a stay-at-home mom. She returned twenty years later to work part-time in the Fiscal Department of Employment Service of D.I.L.H.R. She and Dick raised five children, and both retired in 1980. Helen is survived by their five children, Rick Flynn, Sheila (Tom) DiPiazza, Mary Kay (Bob) Roloff, Eileen (Darrell) Howard, and Tricia (Doug) DeMarini; nine grandchildren, Michael (Stephanie), Matt (Jenny) and Tony DiPiazza, Andy (fiancée, Jenny Stier), Maggie and Molly Roloff, Kathryn Howard, Joe and Sam DeMarini; three great grandchildren, Jacob and Mara DiPiazza, and Maeve Asmus. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost sixty three years in 2005; parents; two sisters, Alice Kaeser and Elizabeth Knight; and also four Ryan cousins, who were raised with her by her parents, Julia Holmes, Josephine Mulvihill, John E. Ryan, and Margaret Ellis. In keeping with Helen's wishes, a private family service will be held. Burial will be in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the charity of one's choice. She will be missed and her memory will be treasured by her family. Grieve not... nor speak of me with tears... but laugh and talk of me... as though I were beside you. I loved you so... 'twas Heaven here with you.

"I just wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss. Of all the people I knew who worked for my dad at CUNA Credit Union, Dick and Helen were my favorites. I know we had some great times at your house. I remember Helen as having a great sense of humor and being a good sport. Didn't Dick set the garage on fire grilling in the rain once? The photo is just how I remember Helen. Rejoice in her life, she was one in a million."

"Dear Eileen and family, -Sorry to learn of your mother's passing. I always remember her laugh and pleasant smile. I'll be forever grateful that your parents didn't make me pay for their damaged bumper after I backed into their Ford with our red Barracuda! My thoughts and prayers are with you. -Nancy"
