Alice Nadine Ratcliff, age 97 formerly of Monroe, died Wednesday, January 18, 2012 in Massachusetts. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Monroe United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Woodland Cemetery in Lynnville, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to Hospice or the Monroe United Methodist Church. The daughter of Alfred and Alverta (Sparks) Ratliff, Nadine was born on February 18, 1914, in Lynnville, Iowa. On October 15, 1932, she was united in marriage to Walter Vernon Ratcliff. Nadine worked as a telephone operator for the Lynnville and Monroe Telephone Company. She also worked as a bank teller at the Monroe State Bank. Nadine was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church where she served as the vice president of the United Methodist Women's Club. She was also involved with the Today's Club, Kiwanis Kween, was president for the PTA in Lynnville and was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Those left to honor her memory are a son, Robert Ratcliff and his wife Betty of Shenandoah, Iowa; grandchildren, Carrie Hanna of Chariton, Iowa, Craig Ratcliff and his wife Angi of Chariton, Iowa, Debra Eckler and her husband Paul of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Lori Herring and her husband David of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts; seven great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, a niece Carol Davis and her husband Donald of Waukee, Iowa, and a sister in law, Mable Ratliff of Grinnell, Iowa. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, a daughter, Patricia Zioberek - Smith, two sisters, Eylene Brush and Mary Wagaman and a brother Dale Ratliff.
