Anna M. Hayes-Ferns
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa--Anna M. Hayes-Ferns, 91, of Central City, formerly Muscatine, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
Graveside Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at the Island Cemetery, Fruitland.
Memorial Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2012, at the Jordans Grove Baptist Church in Central City. Memorials in Anna's name may be directed to the Jordans Grove Baptist Church, Burnett Station Road, Central City, Iowa 52214.
Anna was born on November 3, 1920, in Lincoln, Missouri, the daughter of John Henry and Margaret Elizabeth Schenewark Hoehns. On March 23, 1946, Anna was united in marriage to Howard Hayes in Sedalia, Missouri. He preceded her in death on February 2, 1967. Anna later married Russell Ferns on October 17, 1971, in Illinois. He preceded her in death on February 5, 1986.
While a resident of Muscatine, Anna had attended the Island United Methodist Church. While in Central City, she attended the Jordans Grove Baptist Church. Anna enjoyed painting, quilting, fishing and spending time with her grandchildren.
Anna will be deeply missed by her son, Kirk Hayes and wife, Gini, of Central City, Iowa; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Hayes of Central City, Iowa; step-children, Linda Megneault and husband, Leo, of Tucson, Arizona, Beate Keith and husband, Gerald, of Muscatine, Eva Buster and husband, Willard, of Washington, and Deborah Salazar and husband, Tony, of Prescott Valley, Arizona; four grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; one son, Ronald Hayes; one step-son, Andy Ferns; four brothers; and three sisters.
